New music: Desmond & The Tutu’s, Biffy Clyro and more!

For all of you who were smart enough to take leave during this week, I salute you. Sadly I wasn’t one of the smart ones, but hey it’s been a good one. Mostly because it’s been a short one. And now folks, believe it or not, Easter is upon us! Yayeeeeee!

So crack out your easter eggs, your bunny ears and crank up some new tunes courtesy of ZoVina music!

Our pick of the week, goes to beloved SA band Desmond & The Tutu’s for their latest music video, ‘Lazy Bones.’ The video itself is a comedic homage to some classic tv shows (Star Trek, Golden Girls to name a few). If anything could get you in the mood for a long weekend, it’s definitely this track! Once again, the Tutu’s have outdone themselves!

The Scottish trio have returned with a much anticipated preview of what to expect on their forthcoming album, Ellipsis. From this preview, it seems like fans will be chanting “Mon The Biff! Mon The Biff!” till the album comes out!

Cage The Elephant are one band that can do no wrong. I’ve loved them from their first album, and it seems that they get even better with each album. ‘Cry Baby’, the bands latest single is as delightful as ‘Come A Little Closer’ with beautiful Lennon-McCartney intonations. Come to think of it, they’re like a schizophrenic version of The Beatles. No wonder I love them.

Saosin were the soundtrack to my high school career (along with Dead Poetic, Senses Fail, Armor For Sleep and Story Of The Year). So I was elated that the band decided to reunite after so long. We’re still not sure whether this is only a temporary reunion, but for now, we’ll take what we can get. Welcome back Saosin!

3OH!3- ‘BASMF’

Who could forget this strange duo?’Don’t Trust Me’ dominated the airwaves turning them into the ‘It” band of the time. They even had a few hits with Kesha and Katy Perry,  but what ever happened to them? Well, now they’ve been signed to Fueled By Ramen and um.. now they sound more hip hop? Definitely one of the strangest releases this week.

Famed for ‘Midnight City’, M83 (or Anthony Gonzalez) produces beautifully crafted sonic landscapes that transcends worldly arrangements. ‘Solitude’ is no exception.  This single is taken off  Junk, due for release next month on April 8th.
